ASA Miami & ASA New York Set To Face-Off in Football

HIALEAH, FL. - Could there be a football rivalry on the horizon between ASA Miami and ASA New York? The two programs will play each other for the second time in three years this fall. ASA New York is coming off a 4-6 season, but is expected to be ranked in the 2017 NJCAA Preseason Rankings.

The first match up was held at Ted Hendricks Stadium - which is now the home of the Silver Storm, during ASA Miami's inaugural season in 2015. The Silver Storm took down the NJCAA No. 17 ranked Avengers 17-16, after hitting a field goal with 42 seconds remaining in the game. That victory would be the first for ASA Miami in the programs history. Chaviss Murphy, a wide receiver who is now at Florida A&M, led ASA Miami with 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The game is scheduled for October 21st, 2017 with no decision made yet on the time or where the game will be played.

ASA Miami head football coach Chris Boden says he is looking forward to playing ASA New York. "It will be a great test for us. We are excited to have five games scheduled against JUCO teams this season. We have set many goals for our program next year. One of which is to finish our season in 2017 with a bowl game."
